Ultra Botanicals, Los Angeles, CA, recently recalled all lots of its one ounce bottles of “MSM Eye Drops” and “MSM Eyes and Nasal Drops” due to its potentially serious health risks associated with bacterial contamination and the lack of evidence demonstrating the safety of MSM for use in the eyes or nose. Samples analyzed by FDA were found to contain Pseudomonas mendocina and Klebiella pheumoniae, bacteria that in some cases can cause sight-threatening injury.
